EVOL project is a project financed by Europe through EURATOM. Its aim was to participate in developping the MSFR (Molten Salt Fast Reactor) which is one of the solutions for generation 4 nuclear reactors . These reactors, initially developed to recycle the plutonium, are considered very secure because of their inherent stablility (for neutron scientist, see the video).
As part of this project, INOPRO iao :
- Developed and validated the thermo-hydraulic model of simulation for the salt melted flow into the heart,
- Proposed and simulated a simplified and optimized shape of reactor in terms of the heart thermal homogeneity,
- Provided a first tool of coupling between the neutron physics and thermo-hydraulics.
