Thermal bridges analysis for the expansion project of Lyon St-Exupéry airport
Issue
As part of the construction of 2 airports (St-Exupéry and Zagreb), the thermal engineering firm must analyze thermal bridges responsible for condensation and thermal leak.
Objective
To analyze one-off thermal bridges caused by structural members crossing through the façade. These members, cooled by the outside air, are responsible for the inside condensation.
Solution
- To carry out thermal and hygrometric simulations (steady-state and transient 3D calculations) of the differents thermal bridges in order to estimate the condensation risk,
- To propose solutions (isolation / heating mats) to be validated by simulation.
Thermal leak calculation are done for each thermal bridge modelized.
Contribution
Thank's to this study, the construction has been adapted in order to avoid condensation risks and the global U of the façade has been precisly calculated.
